General Information

Give Aloha is an annual program through which Foodland directs its charitable giving to the organizations that are important to its customers. The program honors Maurice J. "Sully" Sullivan, founder of Foodland Super Market, Ltd., and continues his legacy of giving back to the community.

Who Can Participate?
All Hawaii 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations including churches and athletic teams are invited to participate. Public schools are also invited. Groups that are not registered as a 501(c)(3) organization may register through a 501(c)(3) sponsoring agency that is affiliated with the group. Foodland reserves the right to refuse participation of any nonprofit organization.

This year, Foodland is required to submit an online commercial co-venturer (CCV) form to the State Attorney General for each Give Aloha participating organization.  Completing a CCV form is a requirement for Give Aloha participation.

Before registering for Give Aloha please ensure the items below are complete:

  • ·       Ensure your organization is registered or has applied for an exemption with the State Attorney General. Visit the Attorney General’s Hawaii Charities website to search for information on registered or exempt charitable organizations.
  • ·       If your organization is not listed as registered or exempt with the State Attorney General submit your registration here or apply for an exemption here. If you have any questions, please contact the Charities Unit by email:  atg.charities@hawaii.gov.
  • ·       Make sure you have a PDF or JPG file of your IRS determination letter with your FEIN# indicating that your organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit when you register. If you are a public school, you should have an exemption letter. You will be required to upload this file when you register to participate in Give Aloha.

How Does Give Aloha Work?

Give Aloha runs throughout the month of September at all Foodland, Sack N Save and Foodland Farms stores statewide and customers will be encouraged to make donations at checkout to their favorite participating Hawaii nonprofit organizations.  A code is assigned to each organization for donation tracking at checkout. Foodland will match a portion of all donations made by customers with a Maika'i account.
