GIVE ALOHA 2017 GENERAL INFORMATION

Give Aloha is an annual program through which Foodland directs its charitable giving to the organizations that are important to its customers. The program honors Maurice J. "Sully" Sullivan, founder of Foodland Super Market, Ltd., and continues his legacy of giving back to the community.

Who Can Participate?
All Hawaii 501 (c)(3) non-profit organizations including churches and athletic teams are invited to participate. Public schools are also invited. Groups that are not registered as a 501 (c)(3) organization may register through a 501 (c)(3) sponsoring agency that is affiliated with the group. Foodland reserves the right to refuse participation of any non-profit organization.

How Do We Register?
Organizations that wish to participate should register online by going to "Register" on the Give Aloha homepage. The registration period begins on July 1, 2017. Registration deadline is July 15, 2017.

Repeat participants: IRS letters are on file for organizations that participated in Give Aloha in previous years and need not be submitted again unless the organization's tax status has changed.
New participants: An IRS determination letter indicating that you are a 501 (c)(3) type organization must be submitted before your online registration can be approved. Please send with the cover letter included in the registration
Public schools: An IRS letter is not required.

What Happens After We Register?
Once your registration is approved, we will notify you by email and give you your organization's code number. This is the number you will use to login to the Give Aloha website, and as your password when you login for the first time. You will then be asked to create a unique password. Thereafter, you must use your organization's code number and unique password for login to the Give Aloha website. You will then have access to Give Aloha 2017 information for participating organizations, as well as promotional materials and confidential donation information for your organization.

How Does Give Aloha Work?
During the month of September, customers are invited to make donations of up to a cumulative total of $249 (per person, per organization) at checkout to their favorite Hawai`i non-profit organization registered in the Give Aloha program. Donations are accepted at any Foodland, Sack N Save or Foodland Farms checkout. A code is assigned to each organization for donation tracking at checkout. This year, Foodland and the Western Union Foundation will match each donation up to a total of at least $300,000 for all organizations combined. If total customer donations exceed the matching gift, the matching gift will be divided proportionately among all participating organizations.
